Why Social Media Marketing is Important

Social media or social network does not need an introduction. It started in the last decade or so and has taken the world by storm. Now, we are still analyzing, experimenting and learning the true potential of this great network. Here we are not looking into the importance it has for individuals rather we are looking at why and how it is important to businesses. An aspect many of the Indian businesses are yet to realize and leverage. So, why should they leverage this?
Trustworthiness

We all know that the social media is a cheap mode of marketing. Finding your target customers and to let them know of your presence and your product is possible via social media. But what you need to understand is this not just the use of social media. This is also a platform that offers multi-way communication, ie, your customers can contact and share their opinion with others just like you can with them. Now this will increase trustworthiness of your company and thus result in better brand placing. To put it simply, you can increase your brand credibility by an enormous margin if you properly use the social media.

Customer Feedback

To get feedbacks from customers in a timely manner is very important, but was not a possible thing in the old business world, not today. Today this is very much possible. In fact, even before the wide spreading of social media several companies were using their official blogs and websites to gather these feedbacks from customers and prospective customers. For example, Ducati, the famous Italian superbike manufacturer, has used its blogs to successfully get feedbacks from Ducatista’s (AKA hardcore Ducati fans and bikers) about feedbacks on their existing, new and up and coming bikes. This process is made even easier by the wide spread of social media. Based on the kind of products you have and the kind of people you are targeting, you can select your social media platform, ie, between Facebook or Twitter or LinkedIn.
It’s Personal

There is nothing wrong in getting in touch with your customers or potential customers on a little more personal level. In fact, it is a beautiful thing in several levels to make your customers feel more comfortable with your company. What better way is there to do this than through social media? It is not possible to bring in all your customers to your company and have a face to face interaction with them, is it? Well, if you are Rolls Royce then yes, but that luxury is not there for most companies. So you can leverage the social media and make your relation with your customers a little more informal or a little bit personal.

All Social Medias, if we take out LinkedIn, feature an informal tone and relaxed ambiance which can be utilized to the utmost extent by your company to create a better relation with your customer. Share posts with them, share photos with them (let it be the pics from the day before of your new product launch or a company outing), and make it fun and informative for them to spend time in your social media page. It helps in ways you cannot even imagine. Try it!!
