It took jeans almost a century to be what it is today, I mean to get popular among the masses and not just for factory workers or farmers. When it started spreading, it did so like a virus, people round the globe wore the new fad.

From overall to bell bottom to skinny, it went through a long evolutionary process. But there was one thing that always remained the same, mostly - The Colour! Jeans somehow managed to stay blue or some shades of blue for almost all of its history, of course there were black and its shades, but it was blue that really took on the world. So much so that people actually started associating certain variations of blue to jeans. But now the clothing world seems to be on the verge of a revolution, a revolution lead by colours other than blue against blue to gain their right to exist and to end the monopoly of blue over the jeans.

Are you a person who strenuously follows the bollywood film industry and the trend they pull out now and then? Then you might already know where I am heading. For all those who do not, let me explain. We are spotting many an actor sporting colourful denims recently. For example Amir Khan in his slim fit green jeans, Imran Khan with his violet jeans and more. Also if you take a look at the songs of the movie Rowdy Rathore, you can see Akshay Kumar sporting many different colour jeans in each frame.

Some of the jeans that Akshay wear are really impressive but other, pink, yellow, orange, oh boy, they look so ridiculous! They do, but that is not the point, the point is that Bollywood is vigorously promoting coloured jeans. And if this movie and its style work, there is a chance that the market is going to get awestruck by the demand for coloured jeans. In fact many of the store keepers are already trying to get their hands on some, so are the clothing manufacturers.

Don’t we all like to have more colour options when we go to shop for our clothes? Seriously, blue or ‘blue’ is not really an option, so a new array of colours will be a welcome addition, even though I personally do not prefer colours like pink or orange, but the metrosexual guys among us might just favour them. The trend might make them really happy. The fact that they can look so refreshing as a spring or summer wear can further propagate the trend.

Though you can out various combinations with the new coloured denims, any pair of these bright jeans would look awesome with a white button-down dress shirt, a sheer black silk shirt, or a cream-colored sweater or hoodie. You can further take an intrepid move but doing some colour blocking i.e. pairing solid-coloured, bright pieces together. In this way you can combine bolder colours with other bolds. We’ve also spotted an equally growing trend to combine coloured jeans with printed shirts. Anyway, let us see what new combos and trends the new colour craze is going to bring forth.
