Avarekalu Gravy

Ingredients :

  • » Bean (Avarekalu) – 250 grms
    Coriander powder – 2 tsp
    Red chilli powder – 4 tsp (if necessary add more to taste)
    Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
    Coriander leaves – small bunch
    Cloves – 4
    Cinnamon – 1 inch
    Garlic – 4 or 5
    Ginger – ½ inch
    Onion – 1 medium size
    Tomoto -1 small
    Coconut – ½ (1 cup)
    Khus-Khus- ½ tsp
    Fried Gram (pappu) -1tbsp
    Cooking Oil – 3 tbsp
    Salt to taste
Preparation :

How to make Avarekalu Gravy :

  • First Masala to crush

    Coriander leaves – small bunch
    Cloves – 4
    Cinnamon – 1 inch
    Garlic – 4 or 5
    Ginger – ½ inch
    Onion – 1 medium size
    Tomoto -1 small

    Second Masala

    Coconut – ½ (1 cup)
    Khus-Khus- ½ tsp
    Fried Gram (pappu) -1tbsp

    Method

    •Soak Bean (Avarekalu) in water for about 5 hours
    •Peel off the outer layer and boil it
    •Grind First masala with little water coarsely
    •Grind Second masala separately
    •Keep the frying pan to heat and then add oil
    •Add cumin seeds, when it splits add the first ground masala and boil it until raw smell subsides
    •Add boiled bean (avarekalu)
    •Add coriander powder and red chilli powder
    •Add second ground masala and let it boil for few minutes
    •Add salt and garnish with coriander leaves
    •Serve hot with Roti, Chapathi, puri or with rice
