Profile of Dinesh Gundu Rao


Dinesh Gundu Rao born on 9th October, 1969 is the second son of popular Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka, Late Sri R. Gundurao and Smt. Varalaxmi Gundu Rao. Dinesh Gundu Rao did his schooling from Bishop Cottons in Bangalore, he has done B.E in Electronics and Communications from BMS College of Engineering of Bangalore City in 1992.

•He ran a computer training centre with a few others for some time after graduation while simultaneously participated in Congress party activities.

•He was active in campaigning and other activities of the Congress party for six years before he joined full-time politics, later joined politics in 1993 as a Youth Congress worker.

•He was appointed as the General Secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee in 1996. Considering his organization abilities, he was appointed as the President of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee in 1998.

•The party provided him an opportunity to contest for Legislative Assembly from the prestigious Gandhinagar Constituency in the year 1999, with a view to make available his services to the people of the State.

•As per the wishes of party and the People, Sri Dinesh Gundu Rao became MLA of the Gandhinagar Constituency, and has won for three times now from the same constituency. •He is with the people all the time to hear their grievances and woes and provide them remedies

. •Sri Dinesh Gundu Rao is now a popular MLA of the Constituency and as well as the State. Dinesh Gundurao was the Congress candidate for Assembly Constituency (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike District) 2004 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Elections. The count of total votes polled for Assembly constituency in 2004 Karnataka Elections was 61212. Out of these, Dinesh Gundurao of Congress secured 40797 votes to win the seat, defeating the nearest rival Nagaraj V of JD(S) by a margin of 28268 votes.
