It is not that often you come across films of social relevance in a place like bollywood.

In an era dominated by entertainers and remakes, with almost every film-maker eyeing the 100 cr Club, very few film-makers have taken the courageous route of tackling issues plaguing our society, narrating stories that seem to mirror the reality. Prakash Jha is a frontrunner in this category. From DAMUL to AARAKSHAN, Jha has raised pertinent questions through his movies. CHAKRAVYUH focuses on the Naxalite movement, besides focusing on the plight of tribals caught between the Naxals on one hand and police/politicians on the other and most importantly, it raises the burning issue of progress/development versus dislodgment/displacement.

The plot revolves around three close friends - Adil ( Arjun Rampal), Kabir ( Abhay Deol) and Rhea ( Esha Gupta) - who get into the police academy together. Hot-headed, rebel-without-a-pause Kabir drops out. His friends Adil and Rhea, also romantically involved, become high-ranking police officials. Kabir re-enters their lives at a college reunion.

Then starts the real conflict between the two best friends that leads to blood bath and ends in bloodshed. Both Arjun Rampal and Abhay Deol are absolutely real and have justified their roles brilliantly.
Both the heroes are backed by the 2 ladies, Esha Gupta and Anjali Patil, where Esha plays the role of a police officer Rhea Menon and Anjali Patil as Juhi is a Nexalite and will really impress you with her impressive and real acting.

The cast also includes the all time favorite biggies of reality based films Manoj Bajpai as Rajan and Om Puri as Govind Suryavanshi, both playing Nexalite and has done excellent job with their roles as ever. So, basically Chakravyuh is the story of six extraordinary characters, each with an all-consuming dream.. A promise.. A promise they will uphold above everything else.

Director Prakash Jha has once again come out with a sensitive issue on screen and has succeeded again brilliantly. However, there are flaws here and their, wide open but covered brilliantly by the direvtor's skill. So, if you are really looking to watch out for some intense drama, then Chakravyuh is the movie for you.
