SsangYong Motor Company is a South Korean automobile manufacturing company, not long ago, the Indian automobile giant, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited a major stake holder in the company. Ever since that the automobile lovers of the country were expecting the launch of new vehicles from Mahindra. Now, to live up to the expectation the company, along with SsangYong is bringing its latest model to the market, the Mahindra Ssangyong Rexton. Mahindra is already well known for its SUVs and this new model is sure to tighten their foothold in the market. This is the third generation Rexton and it will be available in both 5 seater and 7 seater models.

The 5 seat variant Rexton RX5 MT is fitted with a 2696 cc RX270 XDi engine which churns out a 162 bhp peak power at 4000 rpm and 340 Nm torque at a range of 1800-3250 rpm. This engine can take the car up to a speed of 180 kilometres per hour while offering a fair mileage of 12.4 kilometres per litre. The 7 seat variant also carries a 2696 cc engine. But unlike the other model’s engine this one is a 5 Cylinder, RX270 XVT diesel engine which delivers a rather impressive 184 bhp at 4000 rpm and 402 Nm torque at a range of 1600-3000 rpm. This engine offers a mileage of 11.28 kilometres per litre along with a maximum speed of 194 kilometres per litre. The car also comes with a 78 litre fuel tank and this means you will not have to stoop regularly while on long trips. These engines are clubbed with a five speed manual or a five speed automatic engines which helps the vehicle attain optimum performance.

Two airbags in the front (for driver and front co-passenger), traction control, electronic stability program, collision avoidance system, and engine immobilizer, are all part of the standard safety kit of the car. This further emphasis on the importance the company has given into this field. Better halogen and projection lamps of the head lamp also offers better visibility during night rides. So does the fog lamps on the front bumper. Its 16 inch alloy wheels with tubeless radial tyres offer optimum road grip and traction, these also compliment the breaking provided by the car’s ventilated disk breaks in the front and disk breaks in the rear.

The eagle eye shaped head lamps along with the broad chrome grill offer the car a rather masculine look. This when coupled with the bends and lines on the bonnet, is a pleasure to watch. The interior of the car is as elegant as its exterior. We will find posh leather upholstery, AC with climate control, AC vents and adjustment panels in all three rows, electronically adjustable front seats with three memory control presets, duel tone interiors, speed sensitive power steering, state of the art navigation and infotainment system, and more. The car is fit with most of the feature that makes a standard SUV a great one. From the looks of it, it seems like Mahindra has got it right once again.

Price: Rs. 17,75,000 – Rs. 19,67,000
