The wait for the New Alto 800 is finally over as the improved version of the Alto and its predecessor Maruti 800 hits the roads on October 16th Maruti Suzuki has replaced India’s largest selling car, the Alto, with the all-new Alto 800 at an introductory price of Rs 2.44 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new Alto 800 was under designing for over a period of 4 years and is the able successor of the super successful Alto that was the best selling fuel efficient car for almost 8 years. Alto 800 is available in both petrol and CNG versions and the range includes four variants – Standard, LX, LXi and LXi with Airbag.

The company has retained the same 3-cylinder, 800cc F8D unit but has made minute changes to improve refinement levels and driving experience. The engine produces 50PS of power and 69Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Much was expected of Alto 800 as the previous alto was fuel efficient and the Alto 800 doesn’t disappoint as Maruti has claimed an efficiency of 22.74 kmpl for the petrol version and 30.46 km/kg for CNG.

Alto 800 even has the option of an airbag sadly only for the driver side though, the air bag can be availed at a small premium over the top-end LXi.
