The new Hyundai Fluidic Elantra

Next

Hyundai has grown to be a household name in India, the company that truly has a shot at replacing Maruti Suzuki to become the common man’s car company. Now they are trying to dominate the mid segment sedan with the launch of their new Fluidic Elantra. Now, the name Elantra does bring some déjà vu to Indian car lovers for sure, as this is not the first Elantra to come from Hyundai. In fact the previous, more than a decade old, version of the car was a disappointment for buyers and the company alike. It was pulled off the market by the company in 2007. But this time, it seems, Hyundai has gone that extra mile to make sure they do not miss the mark. A look at the car and its features one can realize that they have actually done a beautiful job with it. Let us go through the new Fluidic Elantra.

Fluidic exterior design is something Hyundai seems to be following religiously these days. Many of their cars, from Eon to Verna to Sonata are designed with this signature theme. The new Fluidic Elantra is also following this new tradition. It has to be mentioned that the car’s new exterior design is making it look elegant, a quality its predecessor lacked. New more defined body lines, wheel arches, bigger head and tail lights are all adding to the stunning look of the vehicle. Also, let us not forget the 16 inch (17 inch in the top variant) alloy wheels that helps increase the vehicles neat and sporty look. Measuring at 4529mm in length, 1775mm in width and 1435mm in height, the car stands as a worthy opponent for any cars in this segment.

The car comes with two different engines under the hood. There is a 1.8 litre VTVT petrol engine that churns out 146bhp of power and 182Nm of torque, and a 1.6 litre CRDI diesel engine with VGT technology (Variable-geometry turbocharger) that can produce an impressive 126bhp of power with 265Nm of torque without breaking a sweat. Manual and automatic six speed transmissions are available for both the petrol and diesel variants. As an icing on top, the cars are also expected to deliver remarkably good mileage, especially the petrol version. With six airbags, ABS, vehicle stability management (VSM), and electronic stability control (ESC), it is obvious that the company has made no compromise with regards to the safety of the car.
Once we open the doors and get in to the cabin we can see that Hyundai has left no stones unturned this time.

The interior is as elegant as the exterior and plenty spacious as well. The leg room, both front and back, and the head room are decent. The overall fit, finish and quality of the interior are apt to the segment. The instrument panel looks sporty and the twin colour dash with chrome accents adds boost to their looks. Its adds a seven-inch screen and navigation system, rear view camera, a 360-watt stereo with external amplifier and automatic headlamps, comfortable leather seating upholstery, air conditioning system, cruise control, solar glass, ventilated front seats (in top variants), and tilt and telescoping steering wheel, all adds further merit to the car. Audio and cruise controls are mounted on the steering wheels to further user friendliness. The new Fluidic Elantra also features Hyundai’s new Active Eco System.

The all new Fluidic Elantra will be available in the Indian market by the first week of August this year.
