Will India Bounce Back?

M.S.Dhoni

Australian team have been dominated by the the India 'A' team in the practice match that ended on Monday in a tame draw. But more than the result it exposed the spin chinks in the Australian armor giving strength to Dhoni's demands for rank turner which infamously backfired against England.

Now with both the teams in the transition phase there seems to be an interesting battle on cards. In Australian camp their skipper Michael Skipper has been doling out double centuries at will making it look like a child's play and Indian skipper MS Dhoni too has been in murderous form unleashing the 'helicopters' and amassing runs. But the skipper's form will not turn the game in favor of their respective teams. The team mates contribution too is necessary and with both teams having a few inexperienced players it will be a battle of wits once they take the center stage.

But Clarke will take respite in the fact that Indians were dominated at their own backyard in the recently concluded tests series against England. More over Indians will take the field wothout VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid the players who tormented the Aussies over the years.

Their bowling which consists of Peter Siddle, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon the key okayers who set up the victory against Sri lanka will have to learn how to tackle the spin friendly condition that does not offer much assistance to speedsters as opposed to Australian pitches.

But Dhoni on the other hand has a lot to worry about nothing is going right for him at present and even hanging on to his captaincy seems like a big issue after back to back failures. From being hailed as the man with the Midas touch he now finds himself in a state where he is scared to touch and turn gold into dust.

Spin department headed by the experienced Harbhajan Singh and followed by R.Ashwin, Pragyan Ojha has looked a mere shadow of its glorious past. As they failed to capitalize on the spin friendly tracks that was prepared on the insistence of their beloved skipper.
Batting too has not been consistent at all there have been a few notable performances by Cheteswar Pujara Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni but none of them have converted their starts into big hundreds. At the selectors have taken some good bad and what were you thinking type of decisions ahead of the Australia series.

Inclusion of Shikar Dhawan in place of Gambhir is a move worth appreciating as it gives out a clear indication that nobody can take their place in the national team for granted. This should drill some sense into Sehwag who is infamous for throwing away starts when the team is counting on him.

Rest of the batsman with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Cheteswar Pujara, Murali Vijay(whose selection is a miracle) and the all rounder Ravinder jadeja who has miraculously found form in the recent time should take India home atleast from this series.

This series will prove to be an acid test for Dhoni who might as well hang his boots if he leads India to another series loss. All said and done its time for India to bounce back and show the world why they were hailed as the best team in the world.
